Board of Directors
Imara International is a United States nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Minnesota, and a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization under the United States Internal Revenue Code. It has a board of directors in the United States and a board of directors in Kenya.

Our board of directors will serve three years in rotating terms, and are eligible for re-election to one additional term.
Larry Welliver, Chairman, is the retired Vice President of the Honeywell Solid State Electronics Center in Plymouth, Minnesota. He has made five mission trips to Kenya and has held many volunteer positions at Messiah United Methodist Church.
Frederick A. Hegele, Vice Chairman, is retired from General Mills, and currently enjoys community volunteer work with Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners, Caring for Kids Initiative, Phi Kappa Psi Education Foundation, Elimu and Imara missions. Fred is a mentor for undergraduate students at University of Minnesota and The Ohio State University.
Barb Kula, Secretary, is the retired Vice President, Product Management, of The Mosaic Company, Plymouth, Minnesota. She traveled to Kenya on the charter mission to discern and determine the long range plan for the Imara mission. Kula is a member of one of the Imara sponsor churches, Messiah United Methodist Church.

David Ching is currently the Founder and Managing Partner of iBIT Integrated Business IT Consultants, LLC, a Minneapolis IT consulting firm. He has founded or co-founded two other startups over his career and is a serial entrepreneur. David is a mentor for undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota.
The Rev. Lindsay Hardin Freeman, board member, of Orono, Minnesota, is an Episcopal priest who has served congregations in Massachusetts, Philadelphia and Minnesota. She is especially committed to sharing the great stories of faith from a woman’s perspective and has won over thirty awards from the Associated Church Press and the Episcopal Communicators for high standards in religious journalism. Her most recent book, The Scarlet Cord: Conversations with God’s Chosen Women is being used by Imara to teach the girls about faith, motherhood and bravery.
Sharon S. Hegele, board member, is a retired United Methodist Pastor, and former elementary, preschool, and junior high school Special Education teacher. Sharon and her husband Fred love working with children of all ages, including their six grandchildren.
LeAnne Hobbs, board member, works for Messiah United Methodist Church as both the Worship Media Specialist and the Communications Design and Information Coordinator. She is active in local, national and international mission work.
Kathy Welliver, board member, is a Registered Nurse at Midwest Immunology in Plymouth, Minnesota. She has made many mission trips to Kenya and has held many volunteer positions at Messiah United Methodist Church.
