Parents Day

Parents Day, March 2014

By David Ching, Board of Directors
Imara International

David Ching is leading the March mission trip to the Imara House in Nanyuki this month. Check the Imara International Facebook page for more updates from the mission trip.

(March 22, 2014) Parents Day was well attended as almost forty people attended. This number included Imara staff, mission trippers, and the girls’ families. A great program was developed that everyone enjoyed. I am amazed to see how good the girls at singing, dancing, skits, etc. It was a lot of fun. After the singing, skits and lunch, Jayne discussed with the parents things that are going well and how the girls are progressing. What was quite interesting was the families response to Jayne’s discussion, which was incredibly supportive of Imara and the quality of life and opportunities that the girls and their babies have. This discussion lasted well into the afternoon.

We continue to be amazed at how the kids are getting along. We have not finished the sand box as yet but between the patio and the half-finished sandbox, it’s like they have found a new home!

Parents Day was the only activity today as it took up the entire day with the last of the families leaving around 5:30 p.m. after some of the first family members arrived about 10:30 this morning.
